Uxbridge library circa 1800Funny thing happened to me about 7 years ago....I met my husband. Now that isn't the funny part just so you know.

When I first spoke with him, I asked him where he lived; at the time I lived in Lindsay which is north east of Uxbridgeby about 45 minutes. He repied Uxbridge--Ok--so I drove down which seemed like an eternity to a town which had multiple names for the same streets and if you drove too far you passed it. Little did I know that I would fall in love with the town or for that matter him.
I was shocked to find out the gas stations where not open then on Sundays, what only one street was your downtown core? Wholly Cow! And get this it was busy with people browsing the shops dispite the new Walmart.

Eventually we married, 5 kids between us full time. I enrolled as a Cub leader, now a ScoutLeader for Uxbridge (which for those who know me 7 years ago this was unfathomable). Why? Well who thaught I would get married, more kids, move again, and oh my goodness the small town. Where is the night life? I became enchanted. Scouts has taught me patience and how to have fun, this small town; Uxbridge, has taught me to SLOW DOWN.

We hike in the above trails. Uxbridge is known as the Trail Capital of Canada.

Trail Capital Map Uxbridge

People who enjoy horses (equestrian) love Uxbridge for this reason as they have places to ride. Did I mention Snow Mobiles? Well hook up to the trails they go north to Fenlon Falls and beyond. Yes we have lots of snow. Do you enjoy skiing? Ski Lakeridge or Dagmar both are running full swing...perfect for March break Durham District School board... What about Camps...Camp Samac in Oshawa offers a Summer  camp.

Uxbridge is a huge hockey town, you see the kids (of all ages) skating and playing hockey on open ponds right in town! Tell me where else do you find that? Elgin Pond has 2 rinks that get checked frequently.

House prices in Uxbridge:
in town ranges from $230000 to $600000
Estate and Rural homes from$500000 to approx $1600000+

I would love to help you find that dream home. Uxbridge is 20 minutes to Stouffville, 20 minutes to Whitby, 30 minutes to Markham, 10 minutes to Port Perry, 45 minutes to Lindsay and Oshawa, http://mapq.st/fs2Dj8

I have been helping/selling real estate for over 10 years, so, when looking for a Realtor ask for references.

Funny Thing, I fell in love with the little town.  Now when I last spoke (wrote) about Uxbridge, I found it difficult to tell you why.  That being said I have a series of videos so you can somewhat see what I mean.

Uxbridge is a small community just north of Pickering and Whitby by 20 minutes, it is just east of Port Perry by 5 minutes and 20-25 minutes to Markham and Newmarket.  Davis Drive is a major road for commuters here as is Bloomington Rd (highway 47/Toronto St).

We have a lovely downtown core which is pleasant to walk around and perhaps you can come in the summer by the Historical Stouffville/Uxbridge Train.  Many people do.  Uxbridge was home to Lucy Maud Montgomery and was founded my the Quakers.  Uxbridge is twinned with Catawissa Pennysilvania.  We have a wonderful hospital with caring doctors/nurses., professional offices, and great trails for you hikers.  Did you know Uxbridge is the offical Trial Capital of Canada?

If you are looking to get out of the hustle and bustle but be close enough to commute this is the town for you!

Part of the Series of Videos in Uxbridge, Ontario showing the Historic Railway and Victorian style of construction.

One of the main pieces of History in Uxbridge is the  Joseph Gould Institute circa 1887.(Uxbridge Library). The history goes back to the mid 1800 and instead of blathering on I will give you the link...click here

It was the perfect day to take photos and as I did I was reminded why I enjoy this small community...the people and the tranquility!  As I was shooting I had the opportunity to meet great people who wondered what the heck I was doing...although in Uxbridge you will frequently find people out taking photographs.

Part 2 of the Series, Once, Twice, Three times , I hope you enjoy this as I enjoyed bringing it to you.
